Should have given Haush a contract.

We will be fine for millions less. Close to $2M IIRC.

He got a little over 3mil per year from Buffalo. This is a position you shouldn't go too cheap. Hope Walsh can figure out his shit.

Should have given Haush a contract.

Kickers grow on trees. Bills overpaid (and consequently let a great corner walk). Football management 101.

Seattle has also had a blocked FG every year over the last 3 years (2 in 2014) and I think led the league in missed extra points due to Steven's low kick trajectory. We can do better for that kind of cash.

Haush had a down year and his inconsistency on extra points sealed his fate. If you have problems with chipshots then you are not worth $3-4 million a year. The money saved can be used to address other areas like OL, DL, CB

As a Bills fan I will say that I was hoping to draft one and not buy one that being said the big contract for Haushka had nothing to do with Gilmore going to the Pats. He was out the door anyway. We could have franchised him yes but despite the Pro Bowl he had regressed every year under Ryan(though that is more Ryans fault and not GIlmore) but he still wanted top corner money and we couldnt afford it and he didnt play like a top corner.

Hauschka was really good for the Seahawks for a few years, but he definitely had an off year last year with some missed kicks that really cost Seattle. I don't mind letting him go, we'll have to wait and see on Walsh though.

You never want to have an off year as a player and you definitely don't want to have an off year in the last year of a contract.

Honestly, in a league full of teams that go through kickers faster than John Ross goes 40 yards, it's an achievement that Hauschka lasted 6 years with us. It's sad to see him go after so long, but he kinda played his way off the team.

It hasn't just been one down year with PATs. This year was the second in a row where he kicked a higher percentage of FGs through the uprights than PATs. 6 for 6 from 50+ in 2015 was amazing, but you can't miss nearly 1 in 5 PATs, just can't do it (at least at $4 million). Hopefully, Walsh can prove that last year's PAT accuracy was an anomaly.
