Joe Flacco - elite, 2nd tier, or bottom feeder?

  • He's an elite Quarterback

  • He's ok, probably in the 2nd tier or "page 2".

  • He's hanging with sanchize and geno.

So glad they extended him and threw more guaranteed money at this guy..... pretty much ensures he's going to be a Raven for a while.

Flacco leads Baltimore to his season average of 16 points.
That's more than $1 million per point......

I'm no Flacco fan. But isn't coming back from an ACL? It's always taken QB's a couple years to get right after those. I'll judge next year.

That'll hurt. Jets D-line is for real.

From what I can tell, he's hurt and playing scared out there this year. A year removed from his ACL injury plus the oline letting him get hit every other play is making him play with no confidence and it shows.

That's rough. Same thing happened with Ben last year when he came back from the knee sprain. He threw 7 INT's in something like 3-4 weeks when he came back.

Given the benefit of hindsight, can we now conclude that re-signing Flacco after winning the Super Bowl was a mistake... and that restructuring his contract actually compounded the mistake even further?

(After all, it seems that the "unthinkable" alternative of releasing Flacco after the 2015-16 season would only require throwing away the 2016-17 season as a means to absorb the dead cap-- which might actually be preferable now, given how the 2016-17 season has turned out in reality. To put it bluntly: It almost seems that the choice is between tanking 1 season vs. multiple seasons.)

If the only reason (or main reason) the team was doing bad was because of Flacco, I'd agree. This team was going to go through a transition after the SB win whether they resigned Flacco or not.

It's not like the Ravens haven't been able to spend money on quality FA every year and resign players (they were able to get Dumerville, S. Smith, Weddle, they signed Pitta, J.Smith, Tucker, and Yanda to long term deals since Flacco's contract). His contract hasn't been as harmful as people make it out to be.
