Haven't watched it since the second year, but they stressed over and over that it was supposed to be the players rankings for the up coming season hence the name top 100 players of 2017 and also the reason they don't allow players who retired during the off season in

Not many football players don't bring attention to themselves when making a play. My man Demarcus Ware even got into the act when he had a sack
