Most of us cannot fathom the kind of money pro athletes get paid or how so many are broke within 5 years of retirement. Pro athletes have a major ego problem and a lack of understanding of basic math.

Earl Thomas was the highest paid safety in the league when he signed his contract. Just like lots of players who are at the top of the league. But every time a new contract is awarded, somebody feels disrespected because somebody else got more than them. And so they hold out for more money.

Remember Kenny Easley? He wanted 1 dollar more than Ronnie Lott.

Earl wanted guaranteed money in a new contract. Just for the insurance against injury ending his career or abilities. It stands to reason that most players are going to demand guaranteed contracts. And that could make the hard salary cap a real issue for some teams. I don't see an end to this any time soon. Wonder who will get the first billion dollar contract?

They should get fully guaranteed contracts. I'd much rather the players get it than someone like that fucker Dan Snyder keeping some extra change from his shitty FedEx Field experience
