There was a play in the first half where the Jets ran a screen that got them a first down plus additional yardage. Powell was running down the sidelines, appeared to step out at the Giants' 20 yard line, then shuffled ahead, appeared to step out a second time and was pushed out for good around the 15. The refs correctly placed the ball at the 20. Coughlin threw the challenge flag and lost the challenge. Wtf? Did someone tell him to or is he just that out of it?
A short while later the Jets had a 2nd & 10. Fitzpatrick threw an incompletion. There was a holding penalty on the play. You could see the ref jogging over toward Coughlin making arm gestures to ask if he wants to accept or decline the penalty. You literally could see the ref gesturing and asking Coughlin at least 6 times before getting an answer.
