Is the Big 12 pretty much out of the playoffs now?

From what you have seen so far IYHO would Okie State beat Bama/Clemson/UGA and Ill go ahead and assume the BIG plays and tOSU is what they should be this year?

The answer is no and the committee imo will say the same thing. No Big12 team, no shot.

A lot of teams have 'monsters'. The difference is in if they have a coach that can make them play like monsters. USC hasn't had that since Pete Carroll and I don't think their current coach will be capable of taking them to that level.

Hard to say with Helton. Imo, his biggest problem has been that he was too loyal to assistant coaches who weren't getting the job done. Over the last couple of seasons, he finally looks to have upgraded the assistant coaches at every spot.

I don't know if we'll be as good as @WABLTY thinks, but if he just stays the hell out of the assistants way (something Pete was good at), we should be better than we have been in awhile.

Playoff teams will like be Clemson, Ohio St. and two SEC schools.
Gonna be hard to get 2 SEC schools with all the teams other than UGA and Bama having lost already

As far as the Trojans go, looks like USCw recruiting finished at #6 in '17, #3 in '18, #18 in '19, #12 in 20. They're 4th for next year. So those high-rated players from the first two (who haven't gone pro) are juniors and seniors. We'll see if Helton is The Guy, but they have talent on-hand.

For 1 comparison, Washington was #23, #15, #16 and #19.

I think they can both run the table during the regular season. UGA is still loaded with talent, their D is best in the East.

edit: they play each other

Just not much room for error now to get 2. Basically neither if them can lose then they'd need a close SEC title game and fir the other leagues to probably have 2 loss champs.

Yeah, I posted that before I knew they were playing next week, too. :L Just used to the normal SEC rhythm where UGA never seems to play the best team in the SECW

Yep best shot was for Florida to go unbeaten then have a close title game to Bama. Now there's only going to be one unbeaten regardless in the title game and you'd likely need the winner if this week's game to lose the title game close and even then you'd need other leagues help.

Having no ooc really makes the year interesting because a lot of these 8-4/7-5 "top 25" type SEC teams are just going to be 4-4 or 3-5 scrubs.

Amazing how perception changes when you don't get your 4 free wins each year

Yeah, I root for one of those. Though they're not looking invincible or anything, Gamecocks got Auburn and LSU coming up, and we never beat either of them. Mizzou and UK are must-wins, and have to pick up a couple more to get to 5-5.

The worst effect of not having the '4 free wins' this year will probably be on recruiting. Especially if you end up at 2-8 or 3-7.

I will do everything I can to get into the way of your assistant coaches way. BRB, making a catfish insta to slide into Orlando's DM's.
