Probably are some who could be but if they cannot shoot their role is downplayed.

Yeah, nobody is game planning to pound the ball into the paint nowadays. It would be interesting if it would be successful at all if they did. I haven't seen any players with that type of post up game recently, I wonder if it is because of recruiting preferences or the lack of post up players in the talent pool.

I've seen some post up and succeed but not nearly like they used to in how often they take it down low.

Drummond should be able to do it for the Pistons but 1) the Pistons have no consistant shooters so teams can just collapse on him (until now, they have Snell so teams are totally going to pay), and 2)Drummond shys away from physical play and just wants to go finess, then gets frustrated and picks up stupid fouls retaliating when defenders body him up.

I think it's a dying art, tbh. I doubt many coaches are focusing on post up play nowadays for players to develop a post up game. Like you alluded to, if you can't shoot you are probably pulled from the game.

True, but the guys who can shoot tend to fall in love with that instead of taking the beating playing the post requires. Drummond, without an outside shot, does not have that option and should just work on dealing with the contact and being a beast. His free throws have improved so teams can't just keep fouling him.

He got swept in the first round. Not one win in the playoffs that year. He had a losing record that year too...lol @ the supposed "GOAT"

Are we talking about the '86 and 87 Celtics? They're arguably the greatest team of all time. Who would they lose to today? ROFLMAO. What you thin the Raptors could beat them? Gimme a break.

Tell me how you aren't a homer but are a fan. I think you have trouble embracing your homer tendencies.

Tell me again how MJ wouldn't be dominant in todays NBA.

Troll on!

He wouldn't be the best player. Would he be good? Yes, but the title of best would go to Kawhi, Durant, Curry or Lebron.

He would only be good? What are you smoking bath salts?

Here's what he averaged per year from '87 to '90 (the end of the Pistons Bad Boys). You can't play defense in todays NBA like they did back then. Yet MJ still averaged 37.1, 35.0, 32.5, 33.6. Leading the league in scoring each year.

So in todays game where teams can't beat the hell out of a player you don't think MJ would be great? He could average close to 40.

I think prime MJ would be the best player in todays game. To say he'd only be good is laughable.

You need to stop drinking the Nike Kool-Aid, he'd be a top player but he wouldn't be the best. So many better defenders today with zone defenses that would get the ball out of his hands. He would be a James Harden with a worse 3 point shot.

Of course, I say Jordan play. Was a fan of his for a short time before I really understood the game.

In comment # 15947 you refered to yourself in the 3rd person. And I'm not sure how well you really understand todays game if you think MJ coming from a much more physical era wouldn't be dominant today.

Jordan was the most coddled star, he was playing today's no handcheck rule before it was an actual rule. You're so naive about Jordan.

And you probably only saw him play when he was in Washington.

Come on, I saw prime Jordan. I bought in the Nike hype at first but then I grew up and looked beyond the hype. You should grow up too, maybe then you wouldn’t be on Jordan’s jock all the time.

So everyone except you calls MJ the GOAT. To quote Steve Harvey.

Everyone doesn’t call MJ the GOAT. Stop listening to the uniformed media for your opinions and start thinking for yourself, you’ll thank Bart later.
