@Malibu You call my post bullshit but no comment as to why. Care to share?
Yes the line was great, but what many refuse to acknowledge is those holes the line opened us ally opened just as Emmitt hit the spot the whole was supposed to be. He didn't sit 5 yards back waiting for the holes, while Barry on the other hand would wait then hit the hole after it opened, allowing the defense to reseal the hole. Thoseack truck size holes Emmitt had were there for a second or less, it's not like he could sit there and boil grits back there. With the OL Dallas had running, heck any offensive move was easy, the reason why Aikman,Smith and Irvin are even in the HOF.Things are different now with the passing but if AP hangs out long enough he will challenge the records that the Cowboys' OL really deserve.
Just as I thought. A debate thread turns in to a 'Vote my way or you are wrong' thread. Cool deal.@Malibu You call my post bullshit but no comment as to why. Care to share?
Yards maybe, TD's? Did you really suggest TD's with a,straight face?
It was entirely up to the league at that point and they made their decision and we lost AP. A year of the greatest in his prime. Jackie understands.
The NFL could have suspended him for a game to "show" (it's all for show) they don't support the behavior and leave it at that. Is there some child beating epidemic going around that the league needed to take a stand against? Or even better, let the football players play football and let the courts handle "crimes."Trying to understand this. Are you blaming the pressures of the NFL for forcing him to beat children? I mean Ray Charles could look at that picture that hit the news and realize anyone with fame doing that is losing their job for a while, no company in todays environment would ever make the hand that did that a face of their organization. So are you blaming him for the act? Because the reaction was as obvious as could be.
Football opinions lacking is one thing, but what he said is downright idiotic.
What I love best about the Smith argument, is the anti Smith side claims he was only good because of the OL, Aikman, and Irving. Then the anti Aikman crowd say Smith, the OL and Irvin made it to easy. Anti Irvin crowd again say it's due to Aikman and Smith. It's a never ending circle.
Yeah, I don't even know if any RB will ever beat Smith's TD record... Especially with the physicality of todays game where players careers are much shorter at the RB position... Smith played 14 seasons, which is unheard of this day and age... So yeah, that warrior mentality definitely fits him well...
Sanders would've most certainly had broken the all time yardage record... He had just come off of a 1,409 yard season so he most certainly wasn't showing any signs of slowing down... Emmitt had rushed for only 3,100 more yards than Barry did but Smith also played 6 mores seasons and had over 1,400 more attempts... Sanders is #2 all time with 99.8 yards per game... Smith is 14th with 81.2 ypg... More than likely, Sanders would have the all time yardage record had he continued to play...
Oh I get it. Some one screams and you dance. Dance bitch dance.
You can't say that he would've sustained that. Emmitt's last 5 years REALLY dragged down his average.
He had 3k yards to go. Would have only needed to sustain it for a couple years.
AP did his part being the best RB the league has ever seen. Then the fallible league turned their back on him. If it was written down anywhere that "hitting your kid with a switch on your own time will cost you a year" then AP would have no complaints. You've really mastered the world, guy. Congratulations. In life you're not entitled to anything, especially not in business. AP learned this the hard way. Maybe you will too when you put on big boy pants someday.

Very true, and let's not forget the RB Johnson wanted was Blair Thomas, who went #2 in the draft. Had Jimmy not selected Walsh in the supplemental draft Dallas may have taken Thomas and never had Emmitt.TRUTH IS, if it weren't for the Vikings' brain fart at the time, those Super Bowls and Emmitt never happen....

Yes, they turned their back on him. After of course years of paying him millions and millions of dollars. Poor, poor guy.
But for some crazy reason they don't like their name front page next to pictures of bloody kids.
AP is not a victim. He can find another job if he doesn't like the way his boss operates. Again, your entire argument is built on entitlement.
