The league seemed to hold up fine when Peterson was out.

The fact is that this is how large corporations with massive public profiles operate. And if the NFL wasnt one of those, nobody would know or care who Adrian Peterson is.

Interesting side note:

From 1990-1997 (8 years) the NFL was led in rushing by either Barry Sanders (1990; 1994; 1996-97) or Emmitt Smith (1991-93; 1995) every year. This was the the first time 2 backs commanded that many consecutive titles since Jim Brown (1957-61; 63-65) and Jim Taylor (1962). It hasn't happened since.

I'm not sure if you're trying to claim that the league would have folded if Peterson was allowed to play, but you sure are pointing in that direction by your statement above.

Which is funny because the league carried on just fine with Peterson back making millions of dollars this past year.

There are a bunch of football leagues around and none of the ones without the best players on the planet are a billion dollar industries.
