We gave up a well-respected situational lefty and a guy at AA who throws 97 for what is arguably a solid starter. My guess is he replaces Sean O'Sullivan which is a negligible upgrade.

Kennedy has good numbers at Petco, so the deal might not be too bad. He can be a solid pitcher at Petco but might have some crazy splits.

Maybe so, but I'm a firm believer in using trades to boost your bottom line. In my opinion this trade is a push at best and at worst depletes our farm system even further.

LOL! The other thing that pisses me off is that--in my very humble opinion--we are in need of offensive power more so than pitching. Our pitching isn't great, but our offense is in far worse shape. I was really hoping to see more out of Will Veneable and Cameron Maybin.

We sure miss Towers. He had a plan and stuck to it. Every move he made was logical and left no one confused. For the life of me, I can't believe Byrnes sees sense in paying Street and Quentin a combined $16.5M.

You may miss Towers, but I don't. In case you haven't noticed Street & Quentin have played well for the Padres & the Padres payroll is so low it's a joke for a team with a huge TV deal.

Ian Kennedy is a starting pitcher. The Padres gave up 1 prospect who might be in the Padres top 30 or 40 prospects. It's really no big deal.
