What does that matter.
Have the playoff games at the same time or schedule around it. But play it on New Years Day.
It was done for 80 years.

ESPN owns the entire franchise. They don't have enough channels to show all of the games at the same time. Plus, the huge rights fees they paid make it imperative that they show as many games in "prime time" with as little compelling competition as possible.

It's really not any more complicated than that.
