If I were a Patriots fan the thing I would be most concerned about is the defense. They were incompetent last night and it is hard for me to believe that Donta Hightower single handedly turns that defense around.

Not much will change if they can't get after the QB

I'm sure the offense will become a machine, but I don't know how much better they will get on defense, against decent teams of course. They will still look like world beaters against those division opponents

Yeah the lack of pass rush is a real problem. However, their run D wasn't exactly stout either. They gave up a 185 yards rushing and 140 to a rookie RB.

Think Gronk shaking off rust?

Or are we starting to see a different player?

Absolutely zero separation last night

The D looked horrid. Yeah he was the band-aid that was keeping things together. He has a history of being hurt so that's not a good sign.

Unfortunately the moves Belichick made on the defensive side didn't work. Kony Ealy cut. David Harris looks done. Gisilee will probably be ok but the front 7 look just terrible.

Way too early to make an assessment on Gronk. His first game in a long while.

hes slimmer. hes learning how to get by guys without running them over.

this team will be fine on offense. brady was...terrible last night. over threw everyone. he did have one insane throw to cooks in stride late, but it got broken up by a flailing DB.

im not happy they lost, but I will take it as a lesson for the team. i hope theyre humbled.

brady post game referred to the "attitude" of his team. never heard him say that before, ever.

12-4 now...i had 14-2

liked what i saw from gillislee, burkhead, and cooks.

this defense concerns me. they very well could be 0-2. the saints will open up the cupboardss on this defense.

He looked like he could barely run last night. He won't be getting by many LB's out there romping around like a foal.

thats weird...because hes fine, and has been fine. its not a physical thing.

berry is a very very good coverage guy, and blanketed gronk til he got hurt.

you know you CAN give credit to the other team...

Never seen him get less separation

Every single target he had a defender draped

He's a big guy that has taken a lot of hits and bumps over the years and is a year older. He may be fine, but he's slower and less nimble

And he was going where the defender would let him, he wasn't dragging a defender around he field like he used to. Either he isn't really healthy or he has lost the important step that allowed him to beat LB coverage.

The offense will get points. No question about that.

But that defense needs to tighten up a LOT. The only thing that seemed to stop the Chiefs last night was their own mistakes.

I thought it was interesting when the Patriots chose to run it on 4th and half a yard. In the past, you could be CERTAIN that Brady would sneak that and get it.

His body can't keep playing at the same level. He's arm strength is still excellent. But his mobility, which was never his strength, is likely to be the first victim of father time.
