How much should Texas A&M charge the Seahawks so they can renew the ability to use the 12th man

I see many Pack fans still bitter after what happened in the NFCC game. Your fanbase needs to keep singing "Let it go" and stop with the butthurt towards the city of Seattle. We have your teams number and you need to just "Let it go...., let it go...."

Showing once again why people hate seahawks fans. You guys think everything is about you. One of your idiot fans made a swipe at Packers fans being "stupid" for buying shares of the team. So the Packers fan responded with a swipe back and you take it upon yourself to say he must be butthurt and pissed about the game and that the seahawks have the Packers number and get over it. LoL you are a tool. Plain and simple. Nobody is even thinking of the seahawks anymore. Whatever helps you sleep at night though. You must still be butt hurt over losing in a heart breaker to the Patriots. Go Pats!

They aren't making any money off this trademark. None.

They might not be profiting directly through selling merchandise saying "the 12th man" but prior use of the trademark is clearly the motivating factor in selling so much merchandise with the number 12 on it. The Seahawks have an entire page dedicated to the 12th Fan Jerseys on their stores.

Lame enough you decided to respond to it. Yea, real lame. Good night Sonny. Sleep tight.

Youre not clever. You bring nothing, outside of looking for Seahawk posts that ruffle your feathers, then whine about them. Carry on though.

lol. Do you always allow people this far into your head? :L

Love the ending. I mean do you REALLY think you can upset a hawks fan with talk of the SB after that unbelievable comeback win against your team that destroyed your super bowl hopes? That never works, but did it actually make you feel better?

cwood doesn't speak for all or even most packer fans. If you want to get down to his level that's your choice. We have our special cases too. If you want to make the mistake that they speak for all of us then I'll happily laugh at you.

Please tell me where the Seahawks are currently using the trademarked term 12th Man. Then show me how much money they are making from it.

This is really quite simple:

Do the Seahawks make money when the #12 jersey is sold? The answer is yes.

Ok why do the Seahawk fans by the 12 jersey which is in the top 15 in Jersey sales?

The reason is because they consider themselves "The 12th Man" so they buy a Jersey that makes money for the Seahawks.

They coudnt consider themselves "The 12th Man" without the the deal from Texas A&M. So this agreement allows the Seahawks to make money from Jersey sales even if the Jersey does not say "The 12th Man"

One option now might be to put a - between the 1-2 to show the super bowl record

Only a lawyer would give a shit about it. It's a phrase that's been in use long before some lawyer/ business type decided to trademark as their own, when clearly it was used by others before hand.

The #12 isn't trademarked. They do not profit from anything that actually is trademarked by TAMU. The only reference to the 12th man is a "Home of the 12th man" written on the lower ring of the stadium. For that they paid over 100k. It's a matter of principle.

Swell.

But I wasn't responding to a question on the philosophy of trademark law but whether the Seahawks benefit financially from using the 12th man trademark. The answer to the latter is clearly yes.

They do not benefit financially when they are not allowed to sell merchandise with that phrase on it. To suggest selling anything with the number 12, which would be legal whether or not they paid the licensing fee, is ridiculous.

How many times does this need to be explained to Seahawks fans to understand? At this point it is embarrassing for me too.

So you are suggesting had they not paid for that phrase on the stadium that they would not have still sold 12 shirts?

Seattle fought this for years on just pure principle. They ignored the notices to stop using it and entered into this agreement just to shut them up.

There isn't a single piece of merchandise anywhere that says 12th man on it. Not one.

If this agreement isn't renewed the only real change would be they remove those words from the ring of the stadium. That's it. They would still sell every single shirt currently on the market. There would still be 12 flags flying at the stadium and around the region. And every other piece of merchandise.

I'm not sure if the media would also be forced to not say 12th man anymore or not. They use 'the 12s' and 12th man interchangeably, but that too wouldn't change the profits the team makes off of their merchandise.

So again, there is ZERO profit made from this agreement. None. Nadda. Nothing. Less than $.01

I don't know how many times that has to be explained to LambeauLegs. He SO BAD wants this to be a big deal for the Seahawks.

Clearly not. As a matter of fact, it's explicitly stated in the legal agreement with TAMU that the Seahawks cannot benefit financially from that trademark.
