Lets forget for a second how the teams would be selected. Personally, I think an 8-team format would be PERFECT for college football.
2017
Conference Championship weekend - December 1st and 2nd
Army-Navy Game - December 9th
Bowl Mania #1 weekend - December 16th
Round One - December 22nd and December 23rd
Round Two - January 1st
Round Three - January 12th (Friday night) or 9th (where it was currently).
Basically all the playoff teams would get at 20-22 days off to rest up and game plan. This would give them MORE time off than FCS playoffs and D3 playoffs.
We would play the first two rounds on campus sites. This gives an incentive to win more, play stronger schedules, and win ones conference.
Final round gets played at one of the six BCS Bowl sites. You can rotate every year.
College football programs would be playing up to 16 games in a season. But we would be giving them a two-week bye in December and you could push the championship game to January 12, giving them an 11-day break between the 2nd and 3rd round.
I can't see how any college football fan would disapprove or how the system wouldn't be doubling their profits.
