So the 'noles held on and gave Bama a tough fight most of the game, and barring a huge missed no-call in the first half and a few mistakes leading to turnovers - the score likely would have been much closer.

Based on that, and the fact that most others in the top 10 played Sister Mary's School for the Underprivileged, I assert the 'noles should drop no lower than to #6 or 7 at most.

What say you?

Well
Francios is a terrible QB for such a good team.
He can't hit a receiver in stride, can't find the open man, can't scramble out of trouble and hurts that team more than he helps.

He's probably gone now so that doesn't matter, so with not knowing how the backup performs, I don't have a real answer. FSU has a great team all over the field until you get to the QB. I saw it all night long. Wide open guys, can't find them/scramble, can't make anything happen when it's right there/can only hit a receiver when he finds the middle of the zone and squats down in it, and he hits them standing still and gets tackled immediately/throws into double coverage when others are open.

If FSU had a really good QB, that game was winnable and they probably come out of there with a "W".

I'd put them around #10 or lower.
But people will keep them high because they "played a good game" and thinking that it was all Alabama that caused all of that to happen. They didn't

Out of the top ten for sure. Having a terrible QB despite a great defense is enough to win some games but not be an elite team. Florida vs FSU would be like watching the same two teams face each other.

I'm just picturing how horrible the FSU vs Florida game is going to look at the end of the season. 16-9 with a combined -76 yards of offense, no offensive touchdowns, and neither team crossing the 50.

I would not drop them far at all. Perhaps 2 spots. IMHO they will fall drastically if their QB is out for long but that is a different question.

The only reason I would have to not drop them as far as I think would be that College Football needs more games like the one we saw and it takes huge balls to schedule a game like this in Game #1.

You have to reward it when it happens. That's worth at least 3 spots higher.

Not far. It seems nobody wants to give Alabama credit.

It's funny because Washington lost by the same score last year and nobody was talking about how bad their QB sucked. Instead, all we hear is heisman candidate this year.

And to answer the topic, I'm thinking I'll have them ranked somewhere around #5.

The truth is, they were better than the score showed. It was turnovers and special teams that killed them. If I had to choose between playing Washington and FSU again, I'd choose Washington without even blinking.

They are a quality team, no doubt about it.

If they lose another then you hit them with a big drop.

FSU averages 1.5 yards per carry and a total of 40 yards rushing all game, but it's the QB who threw for 210 yards that was the problem?

I sometimes don't know what game you guys watch to be honest. Hell I thought he made our secondary look pretty bad for the first half until we started blitzing way more due to their lack of a running game.

I dunno after just one week of football how far they drop, but your analysis is pretty damn accurate on Francois.

Ohhhh, how the mighty fall. I'm guessing all that 'success' and hype, mebbe, went straight to his head. I can't really recall such a dropoff from Heisman chatter to the wreck we saw last nite. He looked pretty rattled, beyond rusty and ill-prepared in some ways.

Or ...

Bama's defense is just that good?

You SEC folks think in terms of run first.

If Francois was a better passer and doubled that 210 yards, you bet your ass the run game all of a sudden opens up.

It's funny how that works.
