I get no help. I even set myself to be goofed on. These pop ups are driving me crazy. Also there was a JRT program that sought out unwanted downloads. I cant seem to find a secure link to that one either.

brand new computer, you have the bloatware. Probably a search bar that's not helping your cause.

Most things for firefox exist for others. While the full version of adblock+ hurts Hammer, their adblock popup addon works wonders for stopping popups. It doesn't set off the adblock alerts that sites run, either. I still see banners but haven't seen a popup in years.

I find Ghostery be better than Adblock, I use it in both Firefox and Opera. As for the bloatware most of those don't cause pop ups to my knowledge, probably a download that had a piggybacked search bar. Try using Unchecky to stop that extra garbage from installing, it works with the Java updater for certain.

Unchecky? You got a link, I'm afraid to download anything right now. I think it must have been a piggy back deal that is messing with me now.

On what site? A lot of tech help sites for hardware manufacturers, even Microsoft, they do that shit a lot. Just say no if you don't want to participate.

For those of you looking to rid your PC of bloatware you might give PC Decrapifier a go. It will scan your PC for all installed software and then give you a checklist of stuff that you can remove along with recommendations for removal or not. And if you are running Windows 8.1 you can use taskmanger to remove programs from startup that might be slowing your system down (not to mention wasting RAM).

I hate bloatware. We mostly build our own boxes, but if we do buy a premade I almost always just wipe whatever they give you and put a clean OS on it just so we know exactly what's on it, and what isn't on it.

Still odd you get that many issues with a new computer, bloatware or not.

Run that malwarebytes app often and make sure you have a good antivirus. Doesn't take much to open the door and find they invite friends and next thing you know you have run away popups, browser hijacks, glitches.

This is the tech forum. Us tech guys don't have a sense of humor.

Unchecky that I mentioned does that automatically for a lot, and I mean a lot, of the downloads. I've had real good luck with it stopping them. The neat thing is it gives you log of what it has blocked.

All it takes is one drive-by download...you know what I'm talking about.
