I saw the interview and have 2 thoughts. First, did you see his body language when he said Robert was going in as #1 QB? He looked pained saying that. Second, it was my interpretation that what he was saying was that Robert is at the top of the depth chart going into training camp, but it's still an open competition and this does not mean that Robert is the anointed starter in game 1.

Yeah, I just thought that this might be relevant based on the assumption that Jon working with Kirk, meant Griffin was gone. Just saw the report, didn't see the interview. If Gruden's hand is being forced, I hope it is from Scot, and not Dan. I trust his football acumen more.

it pains me to read this, hopefully its just the depth chart as of now and there is still an open competition. (coming from a guy that prefers rg3 over kc)

Maybe it was a slip in thought, or maybe very telling, but what I found more interesting was his reference to his QB's this upcoming season. Did anbody else remember or hear him refer to BOTH of them having to be ready coming into camp? What does this tell us about the status of McCoy? I'm still betting that they select a QB in this draft!

But what if you burn a 3rd or 4th and then Kirk and or RG3 light it up. Then that 4th could have provided depth at another position. I say let Griffin and Cousins sink or swim and try your best to get everything else in place for a new qb that you either sign or draft in 16 if need be. Jmo

What I also took from it is that it's Griffin's job to lose, not win back from Colt or anyone else. God I hope RG3 can get his act together. That would jump start our rebuild by about 2 years.

I bet they don't resign colt. There just aren't enough snaps for a 3 way competition. They will either draft a QB or sign a UDFA.

Naming RGIII as the starter in February means nothing.

If this was late August, it would mean something.

I think what will be telling is how they handle rg3s contract this spring. If they take the option year or renegotiate and extend him for a few more years, then it's safe to say that dan (via Bruce) is still calling the shots, at least with respect to Robert. If they don't do anything, then we can probably assume that even the FO has questions about Robert so Jay should have the latitude to do what he sees best with the position.

I would be Shocked if they take the 5th year option....Based on his play...no way you guarantee him 18 Mil for 2016......That wont happen.......Best case...he lights it up and we franchise him...and give him 20 mil instead of 18 mil.....and the FO would LOVE to be able to do that!!!!!

I would be shocked also, except this is the Redskins and Dan Snyder we are talking about. I've become numb to his actions so nothing he might do would shock me.
