I'm happy for his decision to return to the Bengals though I have a feeling he knows that one more early exit from the playoffs could mean he knows he could be the one replacing Lewis as coach.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden has pulled himself out of consideration for head-coaching positions, according to league sources

The St. Louis Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars had wanted to interview Gruden, who is very happy in Cincinnati and looks forward to continuing to work with young quarterback Andy Dalton.

Gruden has been a hot name in league circles after joining the Bengals before the 2011 season. Gruden, 44, coached for seven seasons (2002-08) with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before spending two seasons in the United Football League as an offensive coordinator and head coach with the Florida Tuskers.
