2.5 per year for Green sounds reasonable. That means Mitchell is leaving, unless he is willing to take the same amount or less.

Looking like I was wrong again. I had figured he would be the one to leave because he would get a better deal through free agency. I guess he really does like it here and wants to finish his career here. I'm happy he's staying. I just hope he can stay healthy through most of these next 4 years.

The Kings are pretty closed mouth about those deals. They don't even like to publicize numbers. But I'm guessing it was the length of the contract more than money. I'm guessing the Kings offered 2 years, he asked for 6 and they compromised at 4. No evidence, just a complete guess.

Im guessing it had to be years as well. He took less on this deal than the one he got before.

Or maybe he wanted to know he'd be in their top 6 or something?

That's kind of where I am at and honestly I am surprised he took $2.5 million - he could have gotten a lot more on the market. SAH defenders generally get between $3-4 million a season. Shows his rue character and team first attitude, this allows the Kings to be flexible down the road on some deals.

I think this means Mitchell is leaving and will be replaced by an alternative (won't say cheaper because it could very well be from free agency although I'm sure guys like McNabb and Schultz will be given preference and term is what I see as the issue with signing Mitchell, not money) but who knows, he has a good thing going and may take less like Greene did to remain part of an elite franchise.

This is good, even if he stays on the injury path it does not hurt the club much...other then him not in the lineup.
