This is in my opinion the first Rock and Roll record, 1947



Rocket 88 in 1951 by Jackie Brenston gets the credit but how can it?

One of my fantasies is having a midnight to 4am radio show playing old jazz, blues, oldies, hell.....country.

That Tony Allen classic as my theme song.

Four song sets with a theme, then talk about what was just heard.

Stuff ya just don't hear anymore, rare, obscure, and the classics. Never play the same song twice.

Remember Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) talking about Lead Belly and how he wrote.....In the Pines, just before doing his version? Well Lead Belly didn't record until 1934, this is from 1927.....


And Lead Belly's classic Midnight Special is a cover of a Cryin' Sam Collins tune.



My home music library on par with any radio station. Wider variety for sure.

Lead Belly discovered in the Angola Prison for murder., hard to believe but his talent got him released.

When Robbie Robertson mentions .....listening to Little Willie John......in his Crazy River, well....



He ended up in prison, sad ending.

Speaking of prison, Pat Hare recorded "I'm Gonna Murder My Baby", then, he did. Why, yep, she cheated and she lied.



Of course the only song that can follow that......



Robert Lee McCoy is his real name, he is one of the great blues guitarists.
