The US didn't squeak by Nigeria.

Might be a little dramatic, but it was not convincing.... especially giving up a late PK against a team that HAS NO offensive creativity.

It was convincing. The pk came after they subbed Gonzalez in, messing with the defense. Should've been 2-0.

IMO, A win today isn't critical for the USA, unless you don't think we have a shot at a tie with Portugal.

Ties with Ghana and Portugal coupled with a Germany win over Ghana would put the US in a great place.

At that point, Germany would have secured 1st place in the group giving them very little incentive in the last match vs the US. Portugal and Ghana would be setting at 1 pt a piece with the US sitting at 2 pts.

Someone that knows soccer better than me... in that scenario would Germany rest its starters?

Yes. But US would be playing a Germany team that has literally nothing to play for while Portugal and Ghana would be going at each other in desperation.

I'm not familiar with soccer enough to know if Germany would completely rest everyone, or how much easier that would make it for USA to come up with the win... but it just seems like it would be a pretty good scenario for USA.


Anyways... all that aside... I agree, just get the win vs Ghana! Go USA!
