Wake Forest got Duke into foul trouble and when that happens to Hood and Parker they back off or foul out. They have zero rim protection other than Plumlee and he isn't a scorer. Wake hit almost all their free throws. Duke couldn't manufacture a shot. Hood fouls out. Parker sits for about 4 minutes down the stretch then falls behind and Duke has no size. Wake is big and forces bad shots and with their height they rebound pretty well. Basketball isn't rocket science.

I'm not trying to explain anything away. Duke isn't big enough to protect the rim. That's been their achilles all year long. I said this before the season ever started.

Against a big team like Wake Forest that uses it's size advantage to pound it inside, Duke has to foul to stop them. Results? Foul trouble. Duke gets 24 fouls to Wake's 13. If you get into foul trouble you either foul out or you play matador defense. 6'9" Parker and 6'8" Hood cannot guard 6'11" and 7' guys on the blocks. That's exactly what happened tonight. Hood fouled out and Parker sat out during most of that run by Wake Forest. That's not taking anything away from Wake Forest. Wake simply wanted it more down the stretch. They hit their free throws and Duke went about 5 minutes without scoring. Turnovers and missed shots did them in. They sucked. Quite frankly, most teams do suck when they lose. Rarely does a team look stellar and lose.
