this schedule is seriously home heavy at the beginning. 27 of the first 46 at Staples. They only have 5 home games in March and 12 of their last 20 on the road.

Ok how many times play the Kings/Ducks back to back and where is the second game played?
I don't know if it really makes a difference, just wondering.

No back-to-backs with the Ducks or even home-and-home for that matter. The play once in Anaheim and then at home against Dallas in February (12-13) plus they play Ottawa at home and go to Anaheim the next night later in February (26-27). Here's a breakdown of all the back-to-backs.

October 11-12, at Phoenix / vs Winnipeg
October 30-31, at Pittsburgh / at Detroit
November 12-13, at Anaheim / vs Dallas
November 25-26, at Nashville / at Minnesota
December 11-12, at Ottawa / at Montreal
December 29-30, at Calgary / at Edmonton
February 26-27, vs Ottawa, at Anaheim
March 23-24, at New Jersey, at New York Rangers
April 6-7, at Vancouver, at Edmonton

I meant (and autocorrect changed a word) how many teams play anaheim one night and the Kings the next? And the reverse?
Who is getting a " tired " team and the backup goalie the most?

Sorry Dave. That will take a lot more research. Have to look at all the teams back-to-back situations and see who plays Anaheim one night and the Kings the next or vice-versa. And I'm too lazy to do all that research.

OK research done. It's been a slow day. That scenario happens 15 times in back-to-back situations. The Kings get the "tired" team 11 times and the Ducks get them 4 times. You may not want to share that with your wife. Ducks get the second game against Vancouver (11/9), Minnesota (1/11), Washington (2/15) and Nashville (3/15). Kings have the second game against Buffalo (10/23), New York Islanders (11/6), Chicago (11/29), Boston (12/2), New York Rangers (1/8), Detroit (2/24), Ottawa (2/26), Montreal (3/5), Pittsburgh (3/7), Edmonton (4/2) and Colorado (4/4). Interesting note on the game against Ottawa: Kings play the Ducks the following night in Anaheim.

There are 8 other times teams come in to SoCal and play the Ducks and Kings but have a day off between games. The Ducks get the second game in that scenario 5 times and the Kings only 3. Minnesota (10/17), Columbus (10/24) and Florida (11/16) play the Ducks first whereas Toronto(1/12), New Jersey (1/14), Calgary (1/19), Chicago (1/28) and Tampa Bay (2/16) play the Kings first.

I think it's advantage to the defending Champs.

I think I heard before it flips flop each season to try and make it fair. So next year the Ducks would get the 2nd team more often.
