The last piece still standing from the ‘07 draft…

Second time the Braves dfa'd him this year. The first time was after being on the roster for a month and not getting into a single game. Apparently, the Braves can survive with a 25 man roster.

This whole idea that if a pitcher's effectiveness isn't glossy he must go mindset is a bit bewildering to me.

This is such a weird storyline:
March 24th - Culberson released from minor league deal by Rays
March 28th - Braves sign minor league deal with Culberson
March 31st - Culberson assigned to AAA Gwinnett
May 19th - Braves purchase Culberson's contract
June 18th - Culberson designated for assignment. Does not appear in a single game for the month he was on the big league roster
June 25th - Culberson declares free agency
June 27th - Braves re-sign Culberson to another minor league deal
June 27th - Culberson assigned again to AAA Gwinnett
June 30th - Braves again purchase Culberson's contract
July 31st - Culberson designated for assignment again, with one pinch hit appearance in the 2nd month of time on big league roster
August 3rd - Culberson declares free agency again
August 4th - Braves sign Culberson to a minor league deal for the 3rd time and, once again, assign him to AAA Gwinnett

Dude has a history of injury issues and has only appeared in 6 games for the Evil Empire in his first year of a massive 6 year pact. None of us would have wanted the Giants to sign him at the deal he got with the Spanks, but no matter how no-brainer it was, FZ deserves a pat on the back for not going harder to resign Rodon.

And on a related note…

Are we in danger of getting suspended by the Giants for discussing former Giants or talking about the team doing badly?

Google the Orioles and Kevin Brown if you don’t get my reference…

If they'll hire me I'll gladly let them suspend me (with pay of course)

***Trying very hard not to mix politics and baseball right now.***

Wow, that is crazy! Glad to see other announcers speaking out against this insane decision.

The Orioles are getting pretty soundly trounced for that whole thing.

Not really seeing any political tint to this story, though. It has a bit of a “don’t mess with media types” thing to it, but that is a bit of a stretch…

I won't go into my perspective, seeing as how I've enjoyed politics free (generally) conversations here. Sorry I even wrote that. As I was writing that, I thought "what is the point in that statement" but I left it in against my better judgment.

For anyone wondering what happened to Kervin Castro

FZ is so lucky that players go to crap once he releases them. We Al OBVIOUSLY know more about the Giants roster than he does, and it was CLEARLY a bad move for him to have cut ties with Curvin’ when he did. But this dude is so effin’ lucky that Curvin’ fell off the map immediately.

Such a strange story. He was a relatively out of nowhere 40 man add and was both young and inexperienced. Yet the Giants move him, essentially, from short A ball to AAA and quickly to the big leagues thereafter. Then they jettison him while still young. Did they know that there was something wrong? I don't know. I think that they would have violated rules on handling injured players if they knew he was injured and dfa'd him with the intent to pass him through waivers.

I hope that he bounces back next year and gets a decent career out of his arm.
