Phils won 8-4. Rowand hit a pinch-hit grand slam. It was Thome's return to Philly (he started at 1st). Kyle Kendrick made his major league debut.

you do realize that thome played less than 2 1/2 years here? you act like he is some phillies icon. and regarding kendrick, I sure hope he will not be on this team next year.

yeah, lighten up Westcoast. When you're a kid 2 1/2 years is a long time and at that time Thome was the biggest name player they had had in a while.
I can't remember the details of what happened in my very first game. I just remember walking up the ramp and coming out on the first base side and thinking "I can't believe I am seeing Pete Rose in person". Then we had to turn around and walk a half mile up to our seats in the 700 level. I could still see everything, but Pete got a little smaller. (the Vet held 65,000 people so you were farther away if you had the General Admission seats).
