He makes things interesting a bit too often, but he usually gets the job done, which is the important thing. The whole bullpen has really stepped it up this month.

Only 3 earned runs in his past 20 innings. 1.54 era in May and 1.04 era in June.

And I couldn't help but notice that you negleccted to list Rodney's stats for the month in which i made the post. Here, I'll do it for you: ERA 3.86, WHIP 1.93, BAA .324. Most closers lose their job for putting up garbage stats like that in the first month.

I don't think anyone is actually suggesting that the games don't count in April. It's just that it is way too easy to overreact to stats and performances in April, especially for a relief pitcher who might only make 10 appearances of one inning or less per month. In Rodney's case, after giving up four earned runs in his first 10 appearances, all in April, he's given up just three earned runs in his next 22 appearances covering all of May and all of June to this point. Closers aren't perfect and they're going to have their bad days now-and-then, but as long as he doesn't have too many of them, it'll be fine.

Ya, you have to give him his dues. And of the 2 blown saves, only one was blown and the other was Miller with his head up his arse on defensive on two plays in the 9th at Texas.

That's largely due to the Mariners' front office; they just LOVE to see this guy fail. They probably have a drinking game for every lead he blows.
