I get flashbacks of Jose Mesa whenever he takes the mound. I was perfectly happy with Lord Farquar as our closer.

I beg to differ. Miller put one guy on base. Rodney put three on base, including two walks. And to put icing on the cake, he throws a wild pitch at the worst possible time.

1.62 WHIP.
I have no faith in that guy at all.

Over the past two seasons Fernando Rodney has a 1.91 ERA in 141 IP. I doubt this will be a regular occurrence, simply an off night.

Really with this thread? He put 4 guys on base last night and I really only consider the walk his fault. He got a grounder that just barely found a hole, a grounder that resulted in an error and bloop hit on pitch that a guy just reach out.

Considering the average life of a closer these days, Rodney has been above average over his career.

it wasnt one persons fault miller messed up the throw to second and rodney had walks that put people on base but the best thing to do is just to move on we have 148 games left in the season.....if we win today then yesterday is forgotten

I've seen this 1,000 times over as a Mariners fan… Felix pitches lights out… he's pulled late when he doesn't want to leave…. Mariners don't win…. This isn't a surprise… I think we were all were pretty comfortable with the result ….

It was for the final out and the tying run. Kinda a big deal cause, you know, the M's would have won.

Kinda, you know, wouldn't have mattered if Rodney hadn't walked two guys before Miller booted the ball.

I see. Two walks, a hit and a wild pitch. But, it's all Miller's fault.

It wouldn't matter if Miller makes a routine play. M's win, and you don't make this thread. Pretty easy.

You're leaning really heavy on his 2012 season, 234. At his age, I think you have to go with what he's done the most recently, and last season he was just a hair better than mediocre, by closer's standards.

I think I'll call him Fraud Mode since I can't really call Marshawn Fraud Mode anymore.

And if Rodney throws routine strikes, noone is on base when Miller makes his error and now all you have is a guy still 270 feet from homeplate.

You've know me for four whole posts and now you're telling me how I think. Gosh, aren't you the clever one. But, sorry, you're wrong. I made this thread in February, on a different message board.

Rodney has been pitching for 11 years and he only has 3 seasons with an ERA under 4.00. 2012 was a great year for him. It was also a mirage.

You're trying to say you'd make THIS thread if Miller makes the play. That's laughable! Tell the truth, you've just been waiting for Rodney to blow a save so that you could say I told you so.

BTW, I don't think Rodney is that great a closer either and we'll have plenty of time to not like him but Miller f'd up a play that he makes 999 of 1000. He lost the game.
