Carimi, 6-7, 316 pounds, was originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the first round (29th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons in Chicago seeing action in 18 games with 16 starts before being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prior to the 2013 season. Carimi played in 14 games with three starts last season. He won the Outland trophy as the nation’s top interior lineman and was an All-America selection as a senior at Wisconsin.

Falcons Sign OL Gabe Carimi

Former 1st round pick, with upside. I like it.

As long as your staff gives him a chance, he should do fine. Lovie wanted nothing to do with the former #1 bears pick and cut him before he moved his boxes in the new office. Nothing but upside with Carimi, ex bear top picks have become pro bowlers in dallas.

With our lack of depth on the OL, he will definitely get a shot to start for us. We need all the help we can get.

He's got to be better than Holmes, and Trueblood...I wonder if this tips the scale to a DEF player @ 6? Starting to look that way.

I wouldn't get to excited about Gabe. Yea, he was a first rd pick. But by GM who couldn't pick an O player if Jim Brown & Walter Payton were on the board.
I thought his injury in Chicago would end his young career. But he seems to be hanging on.
Oh , by the way . We usually had to slide a TE or RB his way, to block the guy he was supposed to have 1 on 1.
Again nothing to get excited about.:suds:

Meh... he could be a solid offensive lineman, I suppose. However, don't get too excited. He's by no means going to end up being anything special.

Just fill a hole, that's all we need, unless we find an upgrade in the draft over him
