If Eric crouch was playing qb now in college how well would he do and would he put up better numbers or just about the same??

Hmmm.... dunno. He was a special athlete. Would he be running the triple option or our current O?

You know I didn't elaborate on that. Chances are no triple option but more of the new age spread option zone read kind of offense.

Basically how would he look at a Oregon offense
Or Wvu or Gus malzahan or Clemson chad Morris or rich rod zone read spread.

Thoughts?

As good as he was, the people around were not comparable to the players that Frazier had to work with. With that in mind, with our current line, I'm not so sure he'd come close to matching his production when he played....even back then, if the opposition stopped Crouch, you stopped our offense. If he was running our current offense, don't think he has the height to be a 2800 yard passer.

Also, maybe I'm wrong, I think he was a little bit ahead of the curve in terms of mobile QBs. Defenses now might be better suited to contain somebody like him.

Didn't care for Crouch, but he could make people miss in open field and lower the hammer if he had no other choice.

I think he would perform pretty well in our current offense. Comparable to Taylor or maybe even better..... IDK, its hard to speculate how someone would perform in a different offense from what we associate them with.

That was my first inclination. But two different offenses and obviously Crouch was recruited as an option QB... then again TM passes like a shot putter and has had success.

I think Crouch would have been the ideal zone read QB. He was a ball hog with moves and speed.

See: Taylor Martinez minus the fumbling, plus juke moves...

Let me put it this way, if Crouch is in our offense in 2010 we win the national title.

My answer

Oregon style O
Yes because of the options he could have and easy quick reads

Our offense
Yeah because our offense is based on what the qb can and cannot do beck could be flexible enough to work with crouch

Holgerson/malzahan/Morris
Eh this is the iffy bc can he make all the throws that will be needed to keep a defense honest and not sit on thing to defend. This would also depend on WR and talent

Rich rod O
Yes he would be a similar pat white minus the arm strength or a stronger forcier when he had his good year at Michigan

Typical avg spread O
Yeah bc he has enough talent to get 7-8 wins himself

I know this is a stretch but crouch remind me of a poor man Johnny manziel or johhny with a weaker arm. Bc he's faster that Johnny but can't make the throws that Johnny does and that what separate running qbs vs true dual threat qbs.

Oh yeah we definitely atleast win the big12 and play In a bcs bowl I agree

That what sprung this whole debate bc I feel that was Bo best team 2010 or more complete team

Crouch and Frost were 'move the chains' kind of guys. If you needed 4 they'd put their heads down and get you 6.

That's not Taylor. If Taylor needs 4, he's lookiing for someone else to get it.

Very very very true that why in a spread offense today I think both would do well.

I think frost would have put crazy numbers in a Oregon/tebow fla style offense ESP with the talent they had

disagree whole heartedly... i've seen Taylor lower his shoulder into a Penn State middle linebacker for a first down. He runs tough, but he doesn't run strong, two different things.

I see your point but I disagree Taylor isn't gonna run through people or get that tough yards like crouch and frost did. Now I will say this in his defense the coaches told him not to take unnecessary hits. But even then he rather run around an defender then through him. Plenty of YouTube film on crouch and frost trucking defenders very few of tmart doing that

Also one cold say different running styles. Crouch had jukes n power frost was like a fast tebow running style and tmart is like a sprinter

I agree that Crouch and Frost are better at it, I just don't agree that Martinez shies away from it if he needs to get that extra yard. The real problem is that when he fights for that extra yard he often fumbles, i.e. Penn State at the one yard line.
