Empire league: # of keepers discussion

yes, this is a dynasty league... But the question is how many keepers should we have

We will have a full roster of 39- that is 14 starting Offense, 9 starting pitchers, 6 bench and 10 minor leaguers...

I am thinking anywhere from 20-30 keepers...

Can't be 39. In football we have 20 players and 5 round draft. If we have 39 players don't we at least have to have a 9 round draft??

But you can keep your 20 and pass on the draft if you want in football. That is what I was saying with 39, keep as many as you want, but you lose a draft pick for every one you keep over x amount.

Yea, I think for draft enjoyment, we would be best off having everyone keep the same amount...

If we want to start this league this season, we need to start the draft soon...

To do that we can either work on keeper rules/expansion-contraction rules during season, or let me just add them...

We don't need to start on opening day.

I'd be fine with the beginning of May as a start point for scoring. 39 rounds, or whatever, will be time consuming. And we're drafting for years and years, no need to rush into it.

Just throwing that out there.

yea, i don't think it is a big deal either... not may... that is too late... but mid april is not a big deal...

I just don't think we should feel rushed to get this league going the same day MLB does.

Less wasted picks the longer we go.

May 1st is a Monday. It could be any Monday and I'll be okay with it.

And I think we should make it 25 with a rule that you must keep at least 3 minor leaguers...

I think 20 is too little if we are starting 23 players... as there will be way too many starters to be drafted...
