Hiring a guy who will make all of the pitchers' arms fall off seems like a good punishment.

He does hold the distinction of the only manager the Pirates have eliminated from the playoffs in 40 years.

I used to be a critic of Baker's pitcher usage and I still think he played a role in some pitchers downfalls, but it's probably been exaggerated. Prior and Wood seemed to have been victims of bad mechanics (Wood had a UCL injury in 1999) and freak injuries (Prior was hit by a line drive in 2005), though Dusty's usage probably didn't help. I do think he messed up Harang when he used him for that relief appearance in 2008 shortly after making a start (he threw 166 pitches between May 22 and 25, then started May 29)
