whats the word on smith? is he done for the year? and is Raines hurt now too?

Last I heard on Smith was he had some kind of stress fracture. He's done imo but for some reason they won't announce it. No clue on Raines. I'll just keep saying it though, there is something seriously wrong in the men's basketball program. We've had an absurd amount of nagging injuries to players for the last 3ish years. I don't know what it is, if its practices, shoes, training regime, court surface, whatever. But it needs to be found out.

agreed, I know every team deals with injuries, but it seems like every year we are hit the worst. It'd be interesting to see, over the past 3-4 years, how many of our guys who get meaningful playing time make it through an entire season without having to sit for injury....I'd guess maybe 4? 5?

We are horrible. We'll likely get stomped, but this is still VT vs Duke. There are few Duke games that I can't remember, good or bad. It's like remembering past VT-Miami football games: crazy things just seem to happen. The horrible calls and SG getting pitched in CIS that first year. Coleman Collins face when Dockery hit that three. Jeff King ripping the ball from Sheldon Williams hands on the floor and Zab icing that three. The legend of Deron Washington, and silence in Durham. Taking down #1.

I'm pumped, not because I predict us to win (+20), but because the last decade tells us we still have a tiny chance of something memorable in a season we otherwise won't remember 5 years from now. At least it's something to talk about.

Ah the memories....and VT went on to finish 21-11 including 4 wins against the RPI top 50 and 2 wins in the ACC Tournament and still got snubbed.

BTW, I miss Greenberg's daughters!
