I saw this a couple days ago. He is getting buzz with his bat. It looks likely that he will abandon the mound sooner rather than later.

The Giants have signed RHP Tommy Romero to a minor league deal. Romero has a 3.07 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 9.1 K/9, and a 2.54 SO/W ratio across 6 minor league seasons. He appeared briefly with the Rays and Nationals in 2022.

I don't think he has even thrown a pitch as a professional baseball player yet. But I thought he played exclusively in the outfield (mainly right field) last year.

I wonder if they slide him back to 1st base or continue to look at him as a right fielder?
I suspect his play will dictate that. I knew exactly nothing about him, so I can’t even begin to offer an opinion. He is a giant of a man, so if he can demonstrate young McGwire level defense, I think that would be a real asset.

Per Putela, Eldridge is no longer a pitcher.

Giants are dead last by a healthy margin with a cumulative -0.1 WAR. THE Nats are the second worst with 2.2 WAR. The Astros are the top with 59.5 WAR.

The top 3 have one guy dominating the positive war but even their leftovers outperform the Giants by a wide margin with the next two the Cubbies and Doggies must have a raft of guys getting positive WAR. Just shows how this board has been skeptical of these drafts though the last two haven't had enough time and a couple of the others still have a chance who have been high in prospects lists. But the top 10 have all gotten much needed talent while the Giants still a chance for some previously highly ranked Giants prospects it doesn't look so good right NOW!:L:rolleyes2::hurt::yell::drink::frusty::brick:

Here is what I find frustrating about these findings (well, one of the things) is that, based on percentage of picks graduating to the big leagues, the Giants are in a 3 way tie for 7th place (with the Rangers and the Braves). So some teams make it higher on this list based on quality. Others based on quantity. The Giants cannot seem to figure out either.

Prospects Live, one of the websites I follow sometimes, dropped their top 100 prospects list today. Giants have FOUR guys who made the cut:

22. LHP Kyle Harrison
64. 1B Bryce Eldridge
86. SS Marco Luciano
93. LHP Carson Whisenhunt

Not bad.

Whiz, Black, Teng, Roup and Winn all could see time in the bigs this year. The farm is the best I've seen it in recent memory.
