Kobe had 81, in 41:52 minutes and took 46 shot attempts and 20 FTs.

Klay had 60, in 29:03 minutes and took 33 shots and 11 FTs.

KLAY THE GOAT.

Lets not forget Booker got 70. Devin Booker.

I mean 20-20-20 for a guard is a much better feat than a player scoring 81 on 46 shots.

Klay getting 60 in 29 mins is just kinda mind blowing. Give him another quarter and he gets around 80 on less shots.

Just look it up. Somehow it was only 26.3%

Players Usage

Did the Thunder make every single shot off his passes last night?

Usage rate is doesn't count Assists.

Not going to get exact here, but it is basically the percentage of possessions ended or "used" by the player.

That means field goal attempts, TOs, or FT attempts. The possession ends when 1 of those 3 events occur.

If another player takes the shot it doesn't count against Russ' usage even if he had the ball for the entire shot clock up until the attempt.

He hooked up with Adams for at least 5 easy buckets. Some were tough passes but easy buckets.

Shooting 8-23 to get 20 pts? Nah.

Wilt put up 22 pts, 25 reb, 21 assists, more impressive.

Wilt has more impressive stats than that.

Maybe exactly equal?

In the history of the NBA, a player has gone over 80 points exactly twice.

And there have been 2 20-20-20 games.

Sounds pretty close

Exactly equal seems about right.

You realize that to get 81 on 46 shots, he shot 61%, right?

I realize that and that's a ton of points but 20-20-20 is a little more impressive and there have been other players that scored in the 60's or 70's that have been very impressive and more impressive as well. 20-20-20 for a guard is an exceptional feat as much as people want to downplay it or say RW is a stat hugger.

I will count out centers for this discussion bc of the fact they can get A LOT of easy shots guards can't get.

Klay shot 64% and got 60 in 29 mins. That is more impressive imo.
Booker shot 54% 40 shots-. Not more impressive.

MJ shot 62% on ONLY 37 shots and got 69 and 18 rebounds as well. More impressive.

David Thompson shot a mind boggling 74% and put up 73. Very very impressive.

It's the number that is impressive. 60 had been done. 70 had been done. 80 hadn't been done other than Wilt getting 100. There have been more impressive games than the 81 when guys only scored in the 60's.

This is why I say the 20-20-20 is more impressive. Especially since Wilt is the only guy to do it and he was facing guys 6-7 inches smaller. Still the 20 assists are impressive but not nearly as close to impressive as guard doing it.

I never said that it wasn't a great feat. You said that the 20/20/20 is a "much better feat" (and have now downgraded to "a little more impressive") than 81 points on 46 shots as if that's somehow inefficient when it 61% from the field.

20/20/20 is incredible, especially the rebounds and assists. But taking 23 shots to get 20 points, isn't that impressive.

I agree with tlance...pretty much exactly equal accomplishments.

Interesting, thanks for the lesson, especially the last part, it really puts the usage rate in perspective.

I am very impressed by 20-20-20

But also why I wasn't as impressed with Russ' first triple double season. He had a usage rate of 41.7% that year which is the craziest thing I have ever seen for a PG.

It's definitely impressive. He's come close to 20-20-20 a few times before.

The usage rate is ridiculous, especially when you consider they have a much better roster now. He needs to trust his teammates more.

He obviously hates russ lol

I don't hate Russ. He does have a tendency to chase stats was my point. When you have guys like Russ and Beardo that dominate the ball so much, these stats come a bit easier than they ever did in the past. I'd be interested to see all time usage rates for a season or career.

What do you think is easier, big men to get assists or small guys to get rebounds?

In this era of 3 pt shooting rebounds are easier than previous years for guards. It all depends on the offensive system. If a team runs their entire offense through a big on the post, they could average a high amount of assists. That's not common these days however. For Wilt, I was surprised to see the assist total because of his dominance and really lack of need to pass off that often. Russ has come close to this before, so it wasn't a shock.
