Again, you don’t give that much up for a non-QB...bc you are mortgaging your window. If they take a QB...fine.The key words are " this year ".

There you go then. I am unsure of their cap and contract situation. The Niners can easily walk away from Jimmy without much financial ramifications.
Damn if the Phins aren't trying. Good for them.
Dolphins acquired the No. 6 and No. 123 overall picks from the Eagles in exchange for No. 12 overall, No. 123 overall, and a 2022 first-round pick.
49ers acquired the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 draft from the Dolphins in exchange for the No. 12 pick, a 2021 third-round pick, and first-round picks in 2022 and 2023.
The deal ensures San Francisco surrounds a quarterback for the entirety of his rookie contract with LT Trent Williams, George Kittle, and receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, not to mention the luxury of working with Kyle Shanahan in that time. Whether it's Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, or Trey Lance that GM John Lynch distinctly made this blockbuster move for remains to be seen. It also entails the end of Jimmy Garoppolo in the Bay Area as he's due $26.4 million in 2021 and a total of $53.4 million over the next two seasons. The Dolphins in turn now hold the No. 12, 18, 36, and 50 overall picks in this year's draft.
Miami goes from #3 to #6 and still nets a 1st rounder, a 3rd rounder, and a late round bump? Big win for them especially if somehow the top 5 all end up being QBs.
So maybe I am not the only not sold on Fields?I don't think 49er management is stupid enough to give up all that for a guy like Fields. I bet they have some further moves planned
I think they will be choosing between Smith and Pitts as I think the Bengals are now going to take Chase at #5.....when Washington traded up to the #2 spot to take RG3 from the #6 spot, the Rams got 2 future 1sts and a 2nd.
Dophins took significantly less. So it is not like they made out like gangbusters.
But draft specific, they basically are still going to be able to nab one of the top 2 WR targets, get an extra 1st round out of the deal and then accomplish get roughly a mid round 3rd (SF is giving up a comp pick in their trade as they didn't have their regular 3rd rounder).
Pretty good value when you consider all they lose is the ability to choose between Chase and Smith.
they are all a ? mark until they aintSo maybe I am not the only not sold on Fields?

I think the Dolphins wind up with Pitts personally. Get arguably the best offensive weapon in this years draft and an extra draft haul from the trade.Kind of what I mean. At #3, the Phins likely would have selected Chase or Smith. Now at #6, they will be taking whichever one of those 2 are left in all likelihood.
If Fields is legit in short time, this is the most complete team in the league

The pick could be Zach Wilson, too. I'd be happy with either. Lance would make me nervous, but who knows? Maybe he'll be very good.
Fields had a good year in 2020 and a mediocre year last year. I bet they are positioning themselves for a shot at Watson if Houston decides to let him go.So maybe I am not the only not sold on Fields?

They could probably still trade with the Falcons go from 6 to 4, give up nothing more than the 3rd rounder and maybe a 5th to move up, and still wind up with an extra 1st round pick in two years.
