Does Tom Brady have a great point here?

I understand I’m a bears fan and we perpetually suck, but the game does seem a lot more boring today. I think we are going to look back at the Brady-Manning-Brees years of football as a golden age. You don’t have those prolific pocket passers anymore, everyone is bailing out of the pocket. It’s almost a totally different game now. The days of the statue QB are coming to an end. Sad times.

I think if you were a casual fan then you'll likely see the Brady/Peyton/Ravens/Steelers era as the golden era because you had obvious giants in the sport that gave a reliable narrative. Brady v Manning was the regular season game. Either the Steelers or Ravens were coming with an elite defense. You knew what you were getting at the top. Kinda like college football now. You didnt really have to follow the other teams in the AFC much because they didnt matter. There are pros and cons to that type of era.

Mahomes certainly fits the new era but I dont think you're ever going to see a pocket passer era again.

He's forgotten more about football than I will ever know, but he sounds an old man shouting at clouds about how tough they were back in his day and how soft they are now.
He is not bagging on the players as much as he is the rules.

We loved watching the Browns, Lions, Redskins, Jaguars, Cardinals, Bengals, Bills, Jets, and Bears during the BRADY ERA circa (2001-2021)

That was fun high quality football. There was zero mediocrity on any of those star studded teams that were everywhere.

Get off my lawn, I need to walk uphill in the Snow (both ways) to watch Patrick Ramsey square off against Brady Quinn.

It could be he is seeing parity. I can see how when you sit on top of a dynasty for most of your career that you see a lack of domination as mediocrity.
Even that's a weird take... the We're talking about the Chiefs, Eagles, and 49ers ad nauseam... again.

Man played in a division that was allergic to 12 win teams and had mediocre QB play at best.

Shut the fuck up. Rich coming from Brady. Man is in his get off his lawn phase of life 20 years early.

AFC West is what the AFC East was when he was playing

three shit franchises and a team that gets every call

There are some dreadful offenses that drag down the averages.

Again, it's a down year for QB play across the board and part of that is due to some injuries. Also, the last part of that clip from Alex Smith is a good point as well. WE are in a golden age of D-linemen. Every team has a guy or some guys that can get after the QB. It's a slight correction by defenses, the de-valuing of the running game rearing it's head and offense is down a bit. Some adjustments will be made by OCs and things will be back to what they were. The rules favoring the offense are irrelevant to the conversation. They've been in place for several years when Brady was cementing his legacy. Has nothing to do with this season and Tommy should enjoy his retirement, wait for his unanimous, first ballot induction into the HOF and STFU.

Tom Brady would know mediocrity when he sees it.

20 seasons in a crappy division where no one else ever threatened to do anything in the playoffs will do that for you.

Brady never had a cap hit higher than $25M.

That's not true. For the Bucs he was always over that.

Hell he has a cap hit of $35M this season and he isnt even playing.

To be fair if Brady is only watching Patriot football this year, he would have a reason to think what he is thinking.

It's cute to see the Pats fans still reach to support their former QB after he walked and left them as a dog pile of a franchise.
