Or do they take Ohio State over Baylor to play Alabama?

The BIG TWELVE tie in is the Fiesta.

Baylor will be going there.

Ok. I know there's supposed to be an SEC/B12 game but wasn't sure if it starts this year.

Who picks first? Sugar definitely takes Ohio State before OU or Oregon if they can.

The offical BCS tie-in are:

Rose - Big Ten & Pac 12
Sugar - SEC
Fiesta - Big 12
Orange - ACC

So since the Orange and Sugar loose their tie-ins, they pick first. Orange first since FSU is #1. So most are saying Orange will pick Clemson because they're ACC and Sugar Alabama to also maintain conference fidelity

Then the Orange get first crack at the at-large/AAC selection. So with Ohio St. at there as a sexy at-large pick you gotta believe the Orange Bowl will scoop them up.

Next is Sugar, which of the remaining choices the next two likely candidates are Oregon or Oklahoma. Some are saying Oklahoma because of they think they will bring the most fans. I for one think it will be Oregon because they can draw about as many fans, but more importantly be a better game and will draw bigger TV ratings.

Ok. Thanks for a complete answer. I did not realize that the Orange had first pick.

As much as I would hate OU going to a BCS bowl, especially after we handed them their asses, it will be great to watch Bama drop 60 on "Big Game" Bob and the Sooners. :suds:

And just to add because I saw the question somewhere else, the Orange with the first pick can not pick Bama even though they will be the highest ranked at large because there is a rule that the bowl losing #1 can not pick a team from the conference of the #2 team without permission from the bowl losing that team.
In other words the Orange would have to ask permission from the Sugar to take Alabama.

Remind me again why the Sugar Bowl Committee would give a rats ass about bigger tv ratings, other than as general promotion for their bowl...which they will get plenty of with either team.

Bottom line says they take the team that they think will put the most bodies in the seats, which is sure to be the Sooners.

You are correct on TV. One correction though, it's bodies in hotels, bars and restaurants, not in seats.

Because TV ratings is where the real money is.

Butts in seats implies "bodies in hotels, bars, and restaurants". Not to mention local attractions.

The question is who will send most fans to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Oregon or Oklahoma?

I'd have to lean Oklahoma.

Because TV ratings is where the real money is.

The Bowl Committee's are made up of local politicians and business owners. The tv money is a given.

The local politicians and business owners want fans in seats, hotels, bars, restaurants, and local attractions.

They will make their selection based on that criteria.
