Wow, the stands were empty. That is sad. Kind of reminds of the Padres games I went to as a kid in the 70s.

one reporter guy said he counted them by freezing his tv screen several times and counting: said there were 384 by his count...

throw in the South Florida game, where I counted about 30, and the Pitt FIU game, which had to have had less that 500.

Box score says FIU had 10,000. :spit:

Maybe 1,000...

just seems to be the phenomena in South Florida, regardless of sport. Just the way it is I guess.

South Florida is just not a great sports town for attending games.

It is vibrant, fun, and fantastically cool cosmopolitan town....nobody gets overly serious about sports

Plus it is a transplant town.

There are zillions of transplanted northerners moving away from the cold weather....with 24-7 internet and cable coverage, those northerners don't need to embrace the local teams. They can still easily get their old teams from back home.

Don’t forget the women. We used to joke all the time that a Central Florida 10 would be a South Florida 6.5 - 7 at best.........

hurricanes will never succeed in sunlife proplayer joerobbie stadium. the success of the orange bowl was its location. The neighborhood of little havana acted as the defacto campus atmosphere that is so vibrant to the college game. miami has small alumni base anyway and most of them dont stay in south florida. college football shouldnt include being bused to the middle of nowhere to watch your team play.

The south florida fandom is and always has been a joke. I don't blame them much though. If I lived down there I'd be at the beach instead of the stadium too.

Major college football teams cannot be successful when the do not play in their own stadiums.

Examples Miami and Pitt
