Watching the game last night, I thought I saw DIEHARD behind the WVU bench.

What a game last night! What a finish!

Press Virginia forced OU into 21 TO's. The kids played with so much energy. Dax wore himself out denying Buddy the ball all night.

When Holton grabbed the rebound off the missed layup with 1.8 sec's left... I thought it was over. I literally, fell out of my seat when Buddy made the go ahead 3. Thank God for the review.

I like how this team has been on a run at season's end. These kind of runs have helped WVU gain the momentum and confidence for deep NCAA runs in the past. Think back to 2005...Elite 8... 2008... Sweet 16... 2010... Final 4.

As we know, the NCAA runs require great guard play... especially out of the PG. What has me excited about this team is the improved play of Jevon Carter. Just a month ago, I was ready to see him get less PT. But, in the last 4 games... this kid has become big time. He is taking care of the ball... shooting the rock like he's unconscious... and becoming the link necessary to propel this team.

With Xavier going down to Seton Hall last night, I think WVU is a lock for a 2 seed.

Like I said at the beginning of the season, WVU was heavily flawed... to get them to this level may be Huggin's best coaching effort... ever.

Great stuff...

Well... I should have kept quiet.

Guards played like shit last night.

Probably due to tired legs.

Looking forward to seeing their bracket later tonight.

Still trying to figure out WVU being a 3 seed and OU getting the 2. Finishing second in both the conference regular season and in the Big 12 Championship while finishing ahead OU in the regular season and beating them in the championship game. Scratching my head right now, but they will have to prove them wrong. I guess I shouldn't be surprised....it's us against the world..........again.

I was just having a back and forth with Slaton about OU compared to WVU.

I think what hurt WVU when comparing them to OU was the weak nonconference. WVU played one team in the nonconference that made the NCAA. And, they lost to them.

But would the weaker non conference game have more weight when it comes to head to head, conference ranking, and Big 12 Conference Championships? Or is it because OU's AD is the head of the Selection Committee? I thought that I would start a conspiracy theory.

Rusher - I can only go by what the Zebras called. If you look at the highlight from ESPN, it shows about the same, but as Slaton mentioned, the clock on the backboard is the official time piece with the shot clock already being turned off.

mad,

You're asking about a comparison of OU to WVU?

College Basketball RPI Team Comparison

OU has an OOC w/ an RPI of 4. WVU's OOC RPI was 26.

OU beat 2 major OOC opponents in the dance. OU beat Nova by 23 points. Beat Whisky by 17. Beat Hawaii who's in the dance by 3. OU played 2 less teams ranked above 200.

WVU played 1 major OOC that made it to the dance... lost to UofV by 16. Lost to UF by 17. Beat VT who's going to the NIT?

Yea, I saw some of the info you posted here earlier today. The post you quoted from me was supposed to posted after GRs post with the clocks (not that it makes a difference when you look at some numbers, which I didn't do last night). The post was still in 'reply mode' as I obviously did not post my reply last night.
Looks like I may becoming somebody we all know who doesn't take numbers into account.

Doesn't matter in my slanted view point....If you are the #1 rated basketball conference and you play each team twice the OOC has no bearing! I don't see Kansas 3 times on their schedule! I don't see Oklahoma 3 times on their schedule! I don't see Baylor twice or Iowa State! The #1, #7,#21, #22 teams in the country respectively. Xavier ranked behind Wv in the AP poll and ONLY one other Big East team even ranked in the top 25 in either poll..that being Seton Hall at #20 in the AP.how can that be they have a better RPI??...

Again, I ain't no expert in RPI. It is supposedly a statistic put together to look at wins/losses without looking at rankings.

The way it works is to weigh the value of winning at home differently than winning on the road or winning on a neutral floor. Winning on the road is given a higher value. Winning on a neutral court is weighed more than at home. Also, losing at home hurts your score more than losing on the road or losing on a neutral court.

This weighted value for each win/loss is determined by your opponent's weighted win/loss and their opponent's weighted win/loss to achieve a result that is computed after each game through a team's conference tournament.

I don't have time to look at every opponent Xavier played. As I have noted, their OOC schedule was much more challenging than WVU's. The BE was weaker than the Big 12, but one has to account for each BE opponent and their opponent's results through the season. If BE teams played a more challenging OOC SOS as a whole than Big 12, this can elevate their team's RPI.

We ain't talking about a huge difference here. Xavier had an RPI of 7 and WVU was 10.

Xavier has a bad home loss to Georgetown.

After that, I got nothing...

Well let's stay with how you are looking at it..apparently the road wins had no bearing this year...it was about wins inside of the top 50 and losses outside of the top 100...they keep changing the criteria...first its a strong OOC...then its RPI ..now its top 50 wins... Using your math no way Monmouth should have been left out of the tourney

It ain't my math.

And, yeah... it looks like the committee keeps changing how they eval. I don't think that's a bad thing; however, it doesn't give coaches a chance to do anything about the way the season was set up to help improve their stats... when the change was made after the season finished.
