According to Paul Finebaum and Gene Wojchiechowski he did.

Did Nick Saban turn down $100 million offer to coach Texas? | FOX Sports on MSN

At the end of last season, rumors swirled about Alabama coach Nick Saban possibly moving to Austin to coach Texas.
There were reports that regents were talking to Saban's agent, Jimmy Sexton, while Saban maintained he was very committed to the Tide.
The fears of Crimson Tide fans were put to rest when Saban agreed to a multi-year extension last December.
Now comes a juicy little rumor that Saban will surely be asked about when he appears at SEC Media Days on Thursday in Hoover, Alabama.
According to a new book written by SEC Network's Paul Finebaum, and co-written by ESPN's Gene Wojchiechowski, Texas boosters were willing to offer Saban a compensation package exceeding $100 million.
"Texas was dead serious about trying to money-whip Saban. Depending on whom you talk to -- Bama big hitters or Texas big hitters -- the Longhorns were prepared to give Saban somewhere between a $12 and $15 million signing bonus and a salary package worth $100 million (plus performances)."
Texas wound up hiring Charlie Strong from Louisville, and what wealthy, loose-lipped boosters say they're willing to do does not in any way mean the university was willing to stand behind those terms in an official contract offer.
Nonetheless, there's a ton of money in Texas and a powerful football machine that's looking to be rejuvenated. Anything, supposedly, is possible.

In Finebaum's book the south wins the civil war.

What happened:

"We should pay Saban $100 million to be the next coach of Texas!" - Texas booster

What Finebaum says happened:

"Texas offered Saban $100 million to be the next coach of Texas."

I am looking forward to reading Finebaum's in-depth reporting style. I am sure it will be loaded with credible sources and on the record interviews.

I very much doubt they actually offered him this and he turned it down. No way this is true, imo

The mgmt team over management has been cited in a Human Rights Commission allegation for gross misuse of the color teal, for age discrimination, and for being total schmagaggots when dealing with management.

Saban didn't want to go head to head with Stoops every year.

What is wrong with everybody? Of course the offer wasn't made OR SABAN WOULD BE AT UT NOW. Any coach would take that kind of money to coach at a program that has that many advantages. Hell, Bob Stoops would leave OU tonight for that deal. Even Barry Switzer would take it. Sumlin, Meyer, Briles, Miles, Shaw, Anybody would take a $100 Million deal to coach at UT. Damn near any coach would take $100 Million to coach at Appalachian State or Tulsa or Grambling or anyplace that offered 100,000,000.00. It's a bull shit story. Never happened.

My guess is he didnt get that offer or he would be gone.

But, if he had gotten an offer like that and turned it down, what does that say about the state of Texas football that he would no go for that amount of money. If i was Texas i would be denouncing this bullshit story right from the get go to not have the perception that Saban turned down that kind of money. That just wreaks of internal problems not seen by the average fans and could hurt recruiting. Its well known that Saban loves a challenge and money, both of which were at UT, so whats the truth?

The truth is he got what he wanted from Alabama and can pick and choose when he leaves. I'm pretty sure if Texas was forking out a 100mm K then it was long term and I don't think he is interested in that. With his current deal in place he makes 6mm plus other endorsements and it's pretty much a life long contract that Alabama really can't get out of and he can leave at anytime.

Plus his system and staff are in place and the family settled.

Everyone knows any college coach worth anything would pay Texas $100m for the opportunity to coach at that magnificent program with absolutely 100% compliance.

The Tide does have the best coach in college football. As much as I'd like to play Alabama for the National Championship this year my common sense tells me OU would be better off playing anybody but Alabama in the NC game. Saban is not going to let Oklahoma sneak up on him again. That crafty bastard would be pulling all kinds of things out of his wazoo to keep OU's offense off the field.

SABAN specifically addressed it today at the SEC media days.
He left no room for doubt in a very cold and direct Saban like demeanor.

He said:
1) neither side had any contact.
2) No offer was given because there was never any contact.
3) No mutual interest was ever beyond the speculation of the public.
4) He will not discuss that stupidity ever again.

Texas Boosters might have floated it.
Message boards love it.
Finebaum might have used it to sell books.

But, any 100 million dollar offer (or any offer for that matter) is news to both Texas and Alabama.
Complete fictional story by someone who should know better....
