Would you give up a 2017 1st round pick for Dez Bryant? I have been offering up a RB for a WR without any takers. But a owner put Dez on the block for a 1st round pick. I'm going to be 5-1 after the first 6 weeks. Seems like a smart move to send out a late 1st for Dez if he would take it.

I wouldn't. Dez is already in his 7th year, and with WR's with at least 80 career starts averaging 10 year careers, Dez is most likely on the down side of his career. He's had 2 serious injuries take away good parts of 2015 and 2016. Zeke looks like he is more than capable of handling the load at RB, so I can see the Cowboys going to a run first offense. IMO, the last 2 seasons of fantasy have shown us that you can never have too many RB's with the amount of injuries. You can pretty much get a decent WR off the waiver wire at any time. RB's not so much.

PS, any reason why you are holding on to Josh Gordon?

Unnatural love and faith that he will get his life together. Plus with such large benches and 35 keepers he would have to be dead or totally kicked out of the NFL to give up on him from my standpoint.

No argument there, its just with so many other WR's like Cooper, Jones Jr, Evans, Hilton, Jeffery and Cooks all showing that they are capable of putting up big numbers just as big as Dez, I just don't see him as an elite receiver any longer compared to Brown, Jones and Beckham.

There is no scenario for me to keep Josh Gordon.

But Dez? Yeah, I'd give a first when the first is a rookie or waiver bum. Easily.

A late first for dez is a definite yes for me. Only way I'd prefer the first is if it was pretty sure to be a top 3 pick which at 5-1 is obviously not the case.

agree with the takers here - Dez will be better than a non-top 5 rookie pick in next year's draft.
Hell, your 2nd round pick in the rookie draft might be the same guy you would've taken with your 1st round pick if you still have it. Total shot in the dark on who will or wont be available at that stage as of now.

You know Dez is at worst, a legit red zone threat on a ball-possessing run first team.
Anyone who doesn't already realize that Dallas is a run first team is oblivious to the Cowboys the last couple seasons (no offense meant, @jeffro151).
Even upon Romo's return, I still see as many Elliot carries as possible every game from here on out, 2016 into the future.
Jerry Jones would prob trade away his whole OL and Elliot for a player that could sell a lot of tickets.
Stephen Jones actually has been making some educated, well thought out football decisions the last couple years. They both are scary looking, but one is going about this the right way, and thankfully (for 'boys fans) its the younger of the two.

draft picks are such a crap shoot. if they aren't the top 3, 4, 5..it's really hard to tell what your getting. at least with Bryant, you know what you'll be getting when he plays, a guy physically on par with Julio, OBJ, AJ, or basically anyone else. and probably a better red zone threat than all of them.

if your not in line to get one of the "sure fire/can't miss" guys, I say go for it

Make sure you know what you are getting though.

Dez is not an elite WR anymore. He hasn't performed like one since 2014. Sure, injuries were to blame then, but he is hurt again.

Dez is getting older and I only view him as a WR2 moving forward. I just don't think he gets force fed like he used to with Romo under center. He has declined a bit and the Cowboys have other receiving weapons who are playing well.

well as some have said who would you get
I ll add Des in this scenario

Yes he is aging and yes he may be a Wr 2

but he may still stud out with DoublEE actually opening Dez up when they are on the field together

actually Shady great question and an eye opener as well I'm going to see if I can buy low on him in my money keeper

I have him in the D2 league and it's going to take a lot more than a 1st for me to trade Dez.

I think i'm with you Femurov. I think i'm going to take the gamble and see if he accepts the offers. I just need someone a little more reliable when he's on the field than J Brown and W Fuller at this point. I pick in the 13-16 range is well worth Dez. Especially if Romo does retake the starting position. Even if he doesn't I think Dez can rebound out of this rough stretch.

If Dak, now with half a dozen games under his belt, can toss multiple TD games to Bruce Butler, and Cole Beasley, Dez will be just fine with either one

All for not Treff. Sent him the offer and he rejected it. He sent me back John Brown, Moncrief and my 1st for Dez lol. So much for wanting a 1st for Dez ;).

Id strongly consider giving picks 14 through 16 for Dez let alone just one of them.
