I never knew he got off to such a hot start. That reminds me of a Yankees player who came up in 2007 or 2008 and hit like 10 home runs in two weeks. I can't remember his name but I'm sure I could figure it out with Google. I think he was a brother to Chris Carpenter? But that can't be right

I don't remember him but looked him up. He did have some home run power, if nothing else. And it appears he really did have nothing else

Sunday night blues. Here's one:
  • Good player for a while
  • He finished with a career line of .268/.333/.435 with a 113 wRC+ in 8,269 PA but
  • He was ridiculously victimized by the Year of the Pitcher. In 1968, he had a stat line of .171/.236/.237 with a 36 wRC+ in 387 PA. Fucking Red Sox personnel did not understand sunk costs
  • Hit over 20 home runs six times in his career
  • Went to the ASG in 1966, 1975, and 1977
  • Tied Reggie Jackson for the AL home run title in 1975 with a career high 36
  • Won 8 Gold Gloves
