49ers have rich NFL tradition, and location to boot. He doesn't have to recruit. Almost any other coaching job in football is a step down.

I dont' get the "texas fans are delusional" mindset from some of you here.

Texas is a great job. What are they supposed to do, go out and look for the weakest candidates?

So what if they approach Jim Harbaugh......whats the worst he can do, turn them down?

With this job, you have to MAKE people turn you down. Offer every top candidate you like.......make THEM turn it down, don't assume they will.

See, that's how losers think.......they never believe they can have the best, and try to project it onto others.

Which Harbaugh found laughable. Or he didn't find laughable. I'm not sure what he meant by this.

"Are you trying to be funny?" Harbaugh said after he was asked a question about Texas, via the San Jose Mercury News.

As the newspaper points out, Harbaugh is in the third year of a five-year, $25 million contract, and there was a report that Harbaugh "flat-out rejected" USC when it came after him after it fired Lane Kiffin.

"I don't ever talk about any job other than the one I have," Harbaugh said Thursday.

As my CBSSports.com colleague Will Brinson aptly put it, "There are only 32 NFL jobs. Guys who are having success like [Mike] Tomlin (despite the Steelers recent struggles he has a Super Bowl win and a pair of AFC championships) and Harbaugh aren't bolting the NFL for a college football gig. You could argue that the Texas job is better than some NFL jobs (maybe, say, the Texans?). That's fine. But the 49ers and Steelers jobs don't open up very often."

The more I think about it, as we watch Texas thrash around and find that no one they think they "deserve" will take the job, this could end up being very enjoyable and funny.

for what its worth, i don't think they are getting harbaugh, but if they offered him $10 million a year, he'd probably have to think long and hard about it... seeing as how that would double his salary.
