i didnt see where they were blocked from interviewing fangio . he is however interviewing for the 49ers HC job

morris , baker olividoti are candidtates with in the org. morris should be ruled out but the others should be looked at

A source tells ESPN Radio 980 that the Redskins have been denied permission to talk to 49ers DC Vic Fangio.
It's unlikely Fangio would have wanted to make a lateral move to the dysfunctional Redskins anyway. But that doesn't mean he wants to stay in San Francisco assuming he gets passed over for the head coaching vacancy. The Redskins have been granted permission to talk to 49ers DBs coach Ed Donatell and Chargers LBs coach Joe Barry for their Jim Haslett replacement.

Fangio is the guy I really want, but can the Skins afford to wait on the 49ers to finish their coaching search? We might miss out on some other quality guys. Listening to Russell on 980 made me sour on bringing Wade in here. He talked about how this is a young man's game, and a DC puts in 60 hour weeks. He also discussed the need for an energetic guy when it comes to this team and this defense.

As his one and only as the Patriots DC. Def was ranked 25th in yds and 16th in points allowed. He became the Jets HC. He's a young guy compared to Wade. But a not the guy to run the defense IMO. He's currently the TE coach of the 49ers. Jack of all trades, master of none when you look at his coaching career.

Yeah initially I was ok with the Wade Philips idea even if it meant another retread. But after hearing Cooley say how he liked to play against Wade's defenses because they were so soft, and after reading this (I did not hear Russel) I agree with you. It's a young man's game.

Yeah, I was listening to Cooley that day too. We could do worse than Phillips and I could live with it, but we can do better. I want a no nonsense Gregg Williams type, just a little younger but proven as well.

Skins asked for permission to speak to Schwartz earlier and we're denied. With Rex in, he's out. Bills were 4th in points and yards given up, 2nd in takeaways, and not one pro bowler in the starting lineup.
