Plus, if the 9ers hire Gase away from Denver, reports are Vic Fangio wants out of SF. He wants the HC job for himself or Mike Shanahan.

Craziness everywhere!

Nope,,,, the defense really is petes baby... the DC has input and runs it day to day, but PC isn't bringing in anyone new.... my guess is he hires from within. If quinn leaves.

So as a Broncos fan anything you guys can tell me about Quinn as I know he is one the short list for the Broncos? Right now I am leaning towards Terel Austin for the Broncos as the guy has a great coaching history with success pretty much everywhere he goes. Him being a part of 3 different teams to go to the Super Bowl with his group that he was coaching being a big part of why leaves me excited but at the same time I honestly know very little about Quinn (haven't had time to do the research yet). You all seem pretty high on him even more than of Gus Bradley when he was coaching up the defense. Just worried a little with Quinn that it is more Carroll who leads the defense and the fact that Quinn inherited an already top-5 defense.

Dan Quinn has been great for this defense. He is a little better than Bradley was at play calling, but he's a lot more aggressive than Bradley was (fans may get frustrated by the lack of blitzes at times, but they happen a lot more than Bradley ran them). When he was brought back (our DLine coach for 2009 & 2010) to be the DC it was announced that he had been instrumental in creating the defensive philosophy that Seattle was employing (I guess moving Bryant to DE was his lovechild - and opened the door for Clemons as the LEO). I don't know how he'd be as a HC, but I'll tell you, most Seahawks fans wouldn't be upset if he were back next season as our DC.

Quinn also has the advantage of having Michael Bennett, Avril, and older more experience LOB.

I'm starting to wonder if Quinn hasn't interviewed well with a couple (maybe it's 3 now) teams hiring other candidates ahead of when our season comes to a close. I'm not saying I think Quinn won't be a good HC -- and I'm also not saying he will -- but sometimes people rise to the level of their incompetence. The Peter Principle. If he's hired I wish him well, but being a platoon leader is a lot different than commanding the whole the unit. I guess we'll see.

I would say that it has more to do with the timeframe. Many teams will not wait until after the SB to sign a coach. They want to get moving now or before and not in a month.

I'm thinking Quinn will be ATL's new HC and he would be the right fit for it. The offense is good but need to get a O-Line. The D which is a complete mess, Quinn would be able to rebuild it with his players that he chooses and could turn them into a top D.

Exactly. It isn't a knock on Quinn since he can't even be officially announced until after his final game.

If we beat the Packers however, he can be interviewed again next week which is another dead period for coaches still involved in the playoffs.

Quinn deserves it and I'm good with Richard as DC.

Looks like Quinn has a five year deal with the Falcons. Not surprising, just official.
