Do they wire your jaw when you break your jaw?

That has to suck.

Heyward out 4-6 weeks? Braves coasting anyway....doubt it matters.

freaking yahoo won't put him on the DL. I need to swap him with a pitcher going today, but can't because they won't update him to being on the DL.

Hate that site.

No one adds the ABA numbers of Dr. J, George "Iceman" Gervin, Artis Gilmore, etc. to their career stats.

Why is ESPN choosing to do it for Ichiro? He didn't get 4,000 hits against MLB pitchers.

It is setting a precedent. So do we include any HR's Manny hit while in Japan into his stats? Can we add the 1200 or so K's Yu got in Japan to his record?

How about in the NBA. If someone is playing in the top Argentinian league, does that count? How about a top Italian or Chinese league?

Wonder if Ichiro was still in SEA if this 4k hits would be a story.

Wonder what happens if Arod is suspended and goes and plays for 2 years in Japan, where he hits another 60 HR's. If stats at the beginning of a career count, then do stats at the end of a career?

Warren Moon has 70,000 passing yards.

Ichiro has 4,000 hits.

Next we'll start combing college numbers too in special circumstances when the media desperately needs to idolize someone for financial gain.

Yes...accidental...

Is there a "darting eyes" emoticon? Not that I would need to use it, or anything. Just asking.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I see how reactionary ESPN is.

"Ichiro clearly among the greatest of all time."

No, he's not even in the top 50 for all-time hits.

This is MLB. Not the Hiroshima Flying Pacific Storm Crashers.

Compare the career stats of Lou Gehrig and Ichiro. Not even close!

Gehrig has one less career hit.

In 508 less plate appearances, plus he hit for power. Gehrig shatters literally every measurable offensive stat of Ichiro. But the reactionary media (read: ESPN) is going to anoint him among the greats.

Lets be fair now Hammer. Let's do more of an "apples to apples" compairison. He will probably pail, but, I think he should be run up against guys more like the hitter type he is, like Rod Carew, Tony Gwynn, Wade Boggs et al.

Not even close! Tony Gwynn outclasses them all and Ichiro is solidly in 4th in almost every category. We should probably remove Rod Carew.
