I guess at least in this case, Slater will get consistent PT.
Wasn't he already? It means more playing time for Hernandez and Hill. Although, in Hill's case, he may be showing signs of life offensively.

I saw this and it was confirmed, but now he is back with the River Cats. Guess he decided to re-up
That's odd. Must have just some technical paperwork thing for him to refuse the assignment.

Or his agent was able to learn real fast that there just wasn't any market for him, and he prefers to play in the minors than to hang it up. He has made approx 8M over his career, so if he lived frugally, he doesn't HAVE to work ever again.

The Giants have optioned Derek Law to AAA and purchased the contract of Kyle Crick.

I figured this was going to be on the table, Law needs to figure some things out.

I'm really excited about this move though! Crick has gone through an incredible journey to get here.

Ryder Jones is being called up!

I was just drafting up the prospect report and complaining on how he hasn't been called up yet!

Here's what I've written so far:

"Jonesy is on FIRE. After a somewhat slow start in April (though it wasn't bad by any measure, .786 OPS), Jones has a .308/.414/.589 1.003 OPS line over his last 40 games since May 1st. 22 of his 45 hits are XBH, sporting a .281 ISO over that time. He even has 4 steals in that time. Real exciting stuff, not just mindless power. Call him up!"

Wondering who Jonesy could be for. Aaron Hill makes a lot of sense. Jones can play 3B, RF, LF, 1B. With Kelby still around, he covers 2B/SS.

Then Parker is back in a few days, which should FINALLY rid us of Gorkys.

Per Hank, someone will be "cut" to make room (not a DL move). While that COULD mean someone is sent down, how often do you hear the term "cut" to indicate a demotion at this time of year?

It could only mean Hill. Defensively, Jones checks all the boxes Hill does.

Thank god.

It does make me wonder about Nunez....... Jones should get consistent PT at 3B though. I would consider him a project at 3B, don't think he's going to come up and be a gold glover. But hopefully Wotus can work his magic.

And if he does really well..... maybe Panik becomes expendable after all.

I think a fun part about Ryder Jones is when he steps into the box, he feels like a big presence. He's a large human.

I have been rather vocal about my desire to put Panik on the block. Not because I don't like him, but because we have lots of depth at 2B (Gomez has pretty much planted his flag there, and if his bat translates, and he played league average defense, you HAVE to make room for him). And look at Panik's numbers this year. He is quietly putting together a solid year.
