Yup. No need to break the bank on Snell. We have so many good young arms that it doesn't make a lot of sense
I would be AOK with signing Snell to 1 year high value contract. Use the park to our advantage to get a FA for once. I don’t think we want to sign Monty to a LONG contract. Not with all the young arms we have coming up.

Sure, but Snell is going to be 3/105 or so. And the likelihood is we get a solid #3 pitcher for one year and he opts out.

By cutting him now, the Giants could potentially only owe him 30 days of termination pay — about $1.11MM. The CBA, however, explicitly states that this applies to players who have “failed to exhibit sufficient skill or competitive ability.” Giants still might have to pay him.

He would have to file a grievance first. This COULD end up being ugly.

And considering his public comments when Chapman signed, I wouldn’t be surprised at all with him filing. I think he has a decent case, from my ignorant point of view.

Sounds like the Giants didn’t really think this completely through. Who is running this show? >:(

This is going to make us look bad.

Both were having good springs but not really room for either, especially Pinder. Giants already need to make room for at least three players on the 40 man roster. They don’t need to make room for him too.

Being “in camp” just give direct, daily access to the major league coaches. Being sent to minor league camp means nothing, really.

Except he was a minor league signing with no big league experience. Those guys usually get sent down earlier and don’t resurface in roster discussions. The reassignment typically means the team has moved on from consideration.

True. But he was such a long shot coming in, it almost wasn’t worth mentioning that he had a shot.

For him, it is a bad thing, granted. But mainly because now he isn’t rubbing shoulders with the “big boys”.

God I hope Matos makes it
He is in the process of kicking in the door. Start him in Sacto, and let him kick in doors for a month or so. Make it so the Giants have no choice but to give him the job.
