Intentionally losing is far worse. Gtfoh.
Joe Jackson hit .375 in the 1919 World Series and made no errors. Maybe he didn’t know he was supposed to suck. No one was telling him what pitches were coming either.

At least the Stros were trying to win.
I think a team intentionally trying to lose is the ultimate betrayal of the fans.
If you were tantalized with free raccoon coats and tickets on the Duluth Limited PLUS dining car you would have turned on your own mother

Is Grady Little still alive?
Obvious choice for a manager who will not do anything questionable like taking a tired pitcher out of a game to give his team an unfair advantage in the playoffs.

Here is a little bit of movie trivia for ya. Remember that I iconic scene where that stupid little kid says "say it ain't so Joe"?

Yep, @Cyder (he was 28 at the time)

Truth to be told, 8 Men Out is one of my favorite movies of all time. I am a huge fan of John Sayles, and I thought the cast was tremendous

Still not clear how much Joe was in on the fix, but he definitely knew about it. I did read one account that said Jackson tried to alert Comiskey and Charlie just had him shooed away by a secretary.

Ah the good old days when a car door could withstand a blast from a 30/30 and there was no such thing as trace evidence
