Maybe it was the call itself

Maybe its just me, I hate that damn fade pass on those 2 point conversions, almost feel like you have a greater chance of running the ball there
Definitely. The fade pass has to have such a low conversion percentage, you never want to use it on a 4th and goal or 2-point conversion scenario IMO. Maybe 1st down, like the Pats did with Gronk in the second half (I think it was 1st down anyway), but not on a 2-point conversion.

The fade works 100% of the time, 3% of the time.

2) Pats called timeout at 2:03. I thought for sure that Pederson would call an aggressive pass play because the clock would have stopped regardless. Nevertheless, he was so aggressive all game with his playcalling, 10-16 on 3rd downs and 2-2 on 4th downs. They didn't play to lose. Takes an incredible amount of intestinal fortitude to play that way against Belechick and the Pats.
I was thinking the same thing. If you can get a first on that play your really put the screws to them and no downside from a clock perspective to an incomplete pass. Just no Int

Asshole and a cocksucker? I thought Eagles fans were kind
I never said that. We're just not assholes or cocksuckers. Ok, maybe assholes, but definitely not cocksuckers like Boston

Agree with you there.
Fade plays are actually not that efficient.

I think somebody mentioned that the Pats were taking away the inside slants, but they could have went with crossing routes, a draw play, rollout, anything but the dreaded fade...

I hate it, its as if these teams turn a 2 yard play into a 7 or 8 yard low percentage pass, and we see it all the time, but succeed at such a low rate

Agree. I hate the fact that those fades are one option plays: Snap it; throw it.
At least give yourself an out if option one isn't there on 2 pt conversions or 4th and goal, etc

Or apparently flip the ball around in the backfield to three different guys and throw it to the QB

It would have been awesome if Doug had said after the game, "Well, we saw them try it and thought that was a pretty good play design, so...."

Apparently, that play was in their books for a few weeks and named "Philly Special".
Really bizarre that both teams ran a version of it.
I don't think it was one-up-manship.

The Eagles actually called some pretty poor plays that went backwards, so again, the call took guts and they obviously practiced it, because the timing and formation have to be disciplined.
